Charity and Philanthropy

Mike supports many philanthropic organisations including The Kings Trust, Child Bereavement UK, Heart of Bucks and The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers and several others.

In 2009 Mike set up his own charity, The Clare Foundation, which brings together key stakeholders, businesses, partners and charitable organisations to facilitate and create positive change across Buckinghamshire. TCF helps improve the efficiency of other charities in Buckinghamshire sharing best practice and collaborative initiatives, TCF also encourages local businesses to engage in the community through their CSR programmes. The third focus for Mike's charity is helping individuals/people with their confidence, self-esteem and general happiness … Mike says “It’s about Charities, Businesses, Authorities and People in Bucks all working together as a connected, collaborative and happy community."

The Clare Foundation also operates ‘CAN’ (a Charity Advisors Network) which encourages volunteers with specific skill sets to assist charities on a pro-bono basis ... TCF also offers a Charity Incubator Service for start-up philanthropists.

The Charity spends its funds to support other charities and not for profit organisations in Buckinghamshire. TCF supports stakeholders, voluntary sector leaders and vulnerable families addressing social inequality locally. TCF works collaboratively with charities and partners to enhance outcomes and impacts with an overarching aim to establish Buckinghamshire as the happiest county in the UK.

Mike somehow still finds time to help and mentor local businesses and entrepreneurs and is often heard on the speaker circuit, lecturing and advising students and business men alike. Mike is an Ambassador and Deputy-Lieutenant for Buckinghamshire, a Freeman of the City of London and a winner of numerous entrepreneurial awards.

In 2009 Mike was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Bucks New University in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the field of commerce and entrepreneurship.
